Kantor Cabang PT Angkasa Pura II Bandara Sultan Syarif Kasim II Pekanbaru turut menyukseskan penyelenggaraan Pekan Olah raga Nasional ke-18 tahun 2012 yang akan dibuka secara resmi oleh Presiden Republik Indonesia di Stadiun Utama Panam Riau pukul 20.00 WIB. Sebagai pintu gerbang utama propinsi Riau, Bandara Sultan Syarif Kasim II (IATA code: PKU) telah berbenah diri menjadi tempat pertama penyambutan kontigen dan tamu-tamu PON. Direktur Komersial dan Pengembangan Usaha Angkasa Pura II didampingi dengan General Manager Bandara Sultan Syarif Kasim II mewakili AP II memenuhi undangan negara untuk hadir dalam acara pembukaan PON. Dengan adanya kegiatan PON, diharapkan pergerakan penumpang dari dan ke Bandara Sultan Syarif Kasim II meningkat tajam.
